Camp Haunt

Chapter 1:

After looking out the bus window Tommy Cub, leaned back on his seat

and sighed

“I still can’t believe that our parents, instead of letting us spend

our summer vacation at my uncle’s dude ranch.

They all agreed that we should go to some camp,

that none of them ever heard of

“I mean who let’s their kids,

go off to the middle of nowhere without knowing.

What the place is like?”

“Tommy, are you going to whine and complain the whole time

 we’re out here?”

They didn’t just let us go off

“Cookie’s mom researched this camp and they all agreed

that it’d be a great place to spend our summer vacation at.”

 Daisy Penguin frowned

“Right,

for all they know we can all be slaughter as soon as we get there.”

Tommy smirked. And before Daisy could answer him back

The bus driver yelled

“Okay, everyone off the bus!”

They followed the driver off the bus and collected their bags

“Why do we’ve to get off out here?”

I don’t see any camp site around.

All I see is just a bunch of over grown trees.”

Sammy Turtle frowned.

The bus driver laughed before he answered Sammy back

“It’s just through that pebble path, you can’t miss it.”

He then shut the baggage door shut and walked back inside the bus

“Okay kids, you all have a great time here at camp Fire-Joy.

And I’ll pick you all back here in a couple of weeks.”

The driver smiled then gave them a friendly good-bye wave

“Oh great,

you’d think that they’d at least come and pick us up or something.”

 Tommy sighed

“Okay Tommy, you really need to let this go.

All your whining is starting to give me a headache.

You heard the driver the camp is just right through those trees

“So, pick up your stuff and let’s get going.” Sammy scowled him

Welcome to camp

Chapter 2:

The driver didn’t lie, they only had to walk a short distance.

Before they came to a clearing leading towards the

camps entrance

“Oh wow, it looks so.” Cookie began

“Empty.” Daisy finished for Cookie

as they looked around the camp grounds

“Yah, shouldn’t there be kids,

running around or swimming in the lake.” Sammy added.

Vicky Dragonfly pointed to a stone cabin that looked bigger

 than the others. And shrugged

“They’re probably inside that cabin over there eating lunch

or something.”

“Or maybe the bus driver dropped us off at the wrong camp.”

 Tommy smirked.

Daisy gave him a you’re such a block head look

Before she smirked

“Right, since all these summer camps are right next

 to one another.

I’m sure they get confused all the time on which camp

 is which.”

They followed a path down towards the cabin Vicky slowly opened the door

and found a small sad-looking hound dog inside.

 Just staring out the window

“Umm, hi, I’m Vicky, my friends and I just arrived at camp

and were wondering. Why it was so empty.”

“Hi, I’m Amy, I’m the only one here.

They all left a few days ago.”

 She sobbed

“Left?”

left where?” And why didn’t you leave with them?”

 Cookie asked.

A smiled suddenly spread across Amy’s face before

 she busted out laughing

“Sorry, you guys!” I couldn’t keep a straight face anymore.

You can all come out now!” She cried out.

Soon the cabin was filled with smiling campers

All of them just staring at the gang

“What’s going on?” Was that same kind of dumb joke?”

It wasn’t very funny if it was.” Tommy frowned

“Oh, don’t get upset little one

we did this to all the new campers

My name is Mr. Jams: your camp director.

Amy, why don’t you show them where their cabins are

“I’ll see you kids a bit later at the campfire.” He explained

“So, what else is there to do around here besides

playing unfunny pranks on the new kids?”

Tommy asked Amy as they head out towards their cabin.

 Amy just laughed then answered

“Oh, there’s lots of things to do.

We play sports, do arts and craft, go swimming

And we’re also planning a fishing trip and whoever catches

the biggest fish will win twenty bucks

“There’s only one thing.

A scream coming from the end of the rose garden

 interrupted Amy

“This is just awful!” The voice cried.

They ran over towards where he was

“What’s the matter Mr. Howard?” Amy asked him

“The roses, they’re all ruined!” He sobbed.

The gang lend over to have a closer look at the rose bud

he was holding

Which was a dry dead brown looking with tiny worms crawling

 all over it

“Oh gross!” What’s wrong with it?” Cookie asked

“Sorry kids, but I can’t talk with you now.

 I’ve to go and see

if I can help these flowers using my spell book.”

 He answered her

Your spell book? They all frowned

“Yes, my book tells me everything I need to know on how

to take care of everything inside the camp

“Now, I’ve wasted enough time I really must leave.”

Mr. Howard responded

“What a total weirdo,

he really believes in all that magic jumbo stuff.”

Amy smirked as they watch him run off still mumbling

 to himself

And before Daisy could answer her back.

A paw reached out from behind them and tapped

Amy on the head

“Boo!” Tony Cow laughed

“Tony!”

you creep, you just scared me half to death!”

 Amy cried out

“Chill Am, what’s up with crazy Homer?”

He just ran passed me like he had to go to the bathroom

or something.” Tony joked

“Oh, he’s freaking out because the roses

 had some worms on them.

And has to check out his stupid spell book on how to cure them.”

 Amy explained

“Boring, so are you guys just going

to stand around here waiting for him to come back

Or do you want to do something fun?”

“Like taking out the boat for a spin.”

 Tony asked them smiling

Are we having fun yet?

Chapter 3:

During breakfast, the next day Cookie leaned over to Daisy and

whispered in her ear

“Is it me,

or do you find that there’s something weird on how

everyone’s acting?”

“Somewhat, but so far everything around here is a bit weird.”

 Daisy whispered back

“Take last night for example,

they concealed our campfire just because Mr. Howard.

Suddenly announced that his spell book advises that telling

many ghost stories will be harmful

“I thought that was part of the whole camp experience to sit.

Around a big camp fire and spook another.” She added.

And before Cookie could answer her back

Vicky interrupted her

“So, what are we going to do today?”

“Why don’t’ we go

by the lake and see if we can take the boat

 out again.”

 Tommy shrugged

A few minutes later they waved over to Amy,

 before walking towards her

“Hey guys, what’s up?” She asked them

“We were just looking for Tony,

to see if we could take the boat out again.”

 Tommy answered

“Oh, I saw him by the dock earlier.

 Come on

I’ll walk you guys over he might still be there.”

Amy smiled

Minutes later they found Tony sitting on the dock slowly rocking himself

“Tony, are you okay?” What’s the matter?”

 Sammy asked him

“He’s in the water!”

He tried to grab me and have me go under!”

But I kicked him and pulled myself free.” Tony sobbed

“Whoa, who tried to pull you under the water?” Amy gasped

“I’m not sure,

but I could’ve swore that it was Mr. Howard.

He’s the one who tried to drown me!” Tony cried

“What?”

Either this is another dumb prank or you’ve been sitting out in the sun

 for way to long.”

 Tommy frowned

“I’m not joking, he really tried to drown me!”

 Tony yelled at them

“Okay, okay, we believe you.

Let’s go back to our cabin and talk about it some more.”

 Cookie added

When they got back to their cabin.

They all read the words out loud that was written in

big letters on their walls

GET OUT WHILE YOU STILL CAN!

What's wrong with the camp

Chapter 4:

“Okay, one of you start talking,

what’s really going on around here.

I know that you guys are hiding something.”

 Tommy told them.

Tony looked over to Amy and shrugged

“We might as well tell them.

 It’s probably to late anyways.”

“To late for what?”

 Okay,

how about if we don’t talk in riddles and just tell

us already.” Sammy frowned

“Okay, okay, we’ll tell you there have been strange stories

going around that some of the campers

 have disappeared.

And the reason is.” Amy began

“Well, hello, there kids, nice day, isn’t it?”

have any of you seen Mr. Jams.”

A voice from the door way interrupted her

“Umm, I think that I saw him earlier by the food hall.”

 Amy mumbled

“Oh, I looked there just a few minutes ago.

 I must’ve just missed him

“Okay, well you kids, have a good day and I’ll see you all

a bit later.”

Mr. Howard half-smirked before he walked away.

Tommy shook his head and muttered

“Now, there goes one weird dude.”

“Yah,

he didn’t even ask about what was written on the walls.”

 Sammy added

“listen guys, I really don’t feel safe talking here.

The way he kept smiling as he did gave me the creeps.”

 Amy began

“Let’s meet by the lake house tomorrow morning.

And they ask where you’re going just say you guys,

are going for a nature hike

“I promise to tell you guys, the rest of the story then.”

She added then she and Tony left before the gang could

 answer her back

the next morning the gang made their way towards the lake house.

Waiting for Tony and Amy to arrive

“I wonder what’s taking them so long?” Sammy asked

“I don’t know. But I but I bet,

they’re not even going to show up,

let’s just go back and go for a swim or something.”

Tommy added

“Oh great.” Sammy groaned

“What’s the matter?” Vicky asked

“The stupid door won’t open.

I think it’s stuck or something.”

He cried out as he continued trying to open the door.

Cookie was about to answer a loud noise made

them all jump

“Now what?” Tommy frowned.

Vicky took out a small flashlight from her back pocket and

 turned it on

They screamed when they saw Tony and Amy was staring at them

from across the room

“Whoa!” Where did you guys, come from?” Tommy cried out

“Yah, you nearly gave us a heart attack.

How long were you hiding back there?” Daisy asked

“We sneaked through the back door just in case

 we were followed.

If they ever find out we’d be in some real big trouble.”

Tony answered her

“If who found out and why would you be in trouble?”

 Cookie asked frowning

“Mr. Howard, he’s gone mad.

He told us that his spell book told him that in order to

 save the camp

“None of us could ever leave.” Amy started to explain

“What!”

No way, he can’t just keep us here against our will!”

Tommy yell

“Yah, well, that’s why we need you to help us figure out

a plan on how we can escape this crazy place.

Before we all become goners

“Now, we better head back before they noticed that

 we’re all missing.

Come on Tony, we meet again soon.” Amy told them

We need to escape

Chapter 5:

“Umm, I don’t think that we’re going the right way.

I don’t remember seeing that water fall on our way here.”

 Sammy told them

“Don’t start Sammy, you probably didn’t notice it before.

Let’s just keep going the faster we get back the safer

we’ll feel.” Daisy answered

They continued following the river bank but after a few

 more minutes Sammy repeated

“Are you guys, sure that we’re going the right way.”

“Shh, did you guys hear that?” Vicky asked them

“Yah, it sounds like beating drums.

But I can’t tell which way it’s coming from.”

 Cookie answer

“It has to be coming from over there,

 there’s some smoke coming out.

From behind those bushes.”

Vicky pointed

“Or there could be some mass murder just waiting to chop

 us all up.

Into little tiny pieces just as soon as we walk through

 those bushes.”

 Sammy smirked

“Way to go Sammy,

now let’s go and see if you’re right or not!”

 Tommy laughed.

Huddle together they walked through and found a bunch

 of kids

Sitting around a big campfire.

They turned and stared at the gang with big smiling faces

“Perfect timing.

I was just about to tell the group one of my famous ghost stories!”

Mr. Jams smiled

“Were have you kids, been anyways.” He added

“Oh, umm, we went for an early morning hike.

And lost track of time sorry.” Cookie shrugged

“I see, well you kids look hungry.

Why don’t you go to the food hall and see if the cook can fix you up

 a snack or something.”

Mr. Jams answered then turned his attention back to the

other kids

“Okay, I need one of you to pinch me.

I feel like we suddenly feel through the rabbit hole.”

 Daisy sighed.

Cookie was about to answer her when Tony came running up

to them

“Hey, have any of you guys, seen Amy, around?”

 I’ve been looking for her.”

“Umm, nope, but if we do I’ll make sure to tell her.

That you’re looking for her.” Cookie answered him

“I’m telling you guys,

somehow we got sucked inside the rabbit hole.”

Daisy whispered over to them as they headed out back towards

the lake house

They were halfway there when a startled cry for help

interrupted him

“Now what?”

Cookie thought to himself as they rushed over to see who

 cried out

Finding the answers

Chapter 6:

“Amy, how did you get down there?”

 Vicky asked her

once she and the others looked down the dirt hole

And saw who it was

“I don’t know, it must’ve been Mr. Howard.

He’s must’ve found out about our plans somehow

He hit me over the head with something then threw me in here.

So, you guys, couldn’t help me escape.”

 Amy sobbed.

The gang just looked at each other with scared and confused looks

 on their faces

“Hello,

can you please help me out of here before they come back?”

Amy added. Minutes after they helped her out of the hole

She dusted herself off then took off running

“Come on, we’ve to leave before it’s to late!”

Amy yelled out over her shoulder

“This is totally nuts.” Cookie thought to herself

as she and the others continued to run after her.

A few seconds later the sounds of drums floated through the woods

“Oh great, just ignored them and keep.”

“Amy, what were you thinking?”

Did you really believe that we’d just let you break the rules then

 run away?”

An annoyed voice from behind them interrupted.

They turned and noticed that Mr. Jams and Mr. Howard was

staring at them

“I don’t care, I hated it here!”

I refused to stay any longer at this stupid camp and you can’t make

 me stay!”

 Amy yelled at Mr. Howard

“Will someone please tell us what’s going on?”

You’re not really keeping us here against our will, are you?”

Vicky asked

“But of course, we’re!” Mr. Howard laughed

“What?” Are you crazy or something?

You can’t just keep us here and think it’s okay!” Daisy cried out

“Now, now, let’s all calm down and lets us explain what’s going on.”

 Mr. Jams answered

“Don’t listen,

he’s only going to lie to you anyways!”

 Amy began yelling.

Mr. Jams ignored her as he continued

“You see this campsite has a curse on it.”

“Oh, here we go, yah okay sure, it does.”

 Tommy suddenly smirked.

Daisy poked him in the ribs as a warning for him

 to stay quite

“I know it’s hard to believe, but it’s true.

This is our punishment for building on hollow grounds

We should’ve been killed off many, many years ago

“But instead we were offered that we couldn’t refuse.” Mr. Jams began

“What kind of offer?” Cookie asked

“A powerful one,

during the winter months, we all go into a deep sleep.

But each summer the whole camp including us, comes back to life

“With the promise that we’ll take care of this land,

by keeping it pure and continue growing crops

Please understand that if we’d have let you help her escape.

We’d have broken our part of the offer

Our secret would have been exposed.

 And would’ve been several punished.”

 Mr. Howard finished for him

“Oh wow,

we almost destroyed the whole camp without even

knowing it!” The girls cried out.

Mr. Howard looked up towards the sky and acknowledge

“We’ve to hurry and get everything ready.

It’s almost time for us to rest again.”

“Okay, don’t let us stop you.

Just tell us how we can get out of here, and we’ll be on our way.”

Sammy smiled. And before any of them could answer him back

Amy took out a lighter from her pocket and lite one of the trees

“Stop!” You don’t know what you’re doing!”

Mr. Howard yelled out horrified

“Who cares, let it all burn.” Amy sang out happily

“Sammy,

quick grab those blankets and help me put it out.”

Tommy ordered him

Going Home

Chapter 7:

A few seconds later the fire was out

“Oh, thank you,

now quick ran towards the river as fast as you can.

And remember to always keep our secret safe,

now go before it’s to late.”

Mr. Jams yelled as he and the others began to fade away.

They took off running as fast as they could along the river

and didn’t stop until they came across the water fall

“Oh, wow how are we going to go through this.

We don’t have any canoes or life jackets?”

 Sammy asked them

“Maybe we should turn around and find another way home.”

 He added

“No, you heard Mr. Jams,

we’ve no choice but to go through it.” Tommy answered him

 back shrugging

then huddled close together they climbed to the top of the water fall

 then jumped

“We’re never going to make it.”

Cookie thought to herself as she closed her eyes.

And before she jumped she could’ve swore that she heard

Mr. Jams’ voice in her ear

“Relax,

you all are safe. You helped us and now we’ll return the favor.”

A few minutes they were back on dry land

“Wow, we made it.

This is where the bus driver dropped us off!”

Tommy cried out happily.

And before any of them could answer him back

The bus driver walked over towards them and smiled

“Sorry, that it took so long to fix the flat tire.

 But you kids,

can get back on and I’ll drop you off at camp.”
